In-Depth Information
phone to access bikes. Full instructions are on www.cibi.dk - scroll down to find 'Bycykel
turist' under Odense.
It's a longwinded process if all you want is a bike for a couple of hours - a simpler al-
ternative is to rent bikes at Odense Cykeludlejning ( GOOGLE MAP ; 29 29 25 89;
www.odensecykler.dk ; Nedergade 36; 9am-1pm Mon-Fri May-Aug) for Dkr100 per day. Outside
of opening hours, you can book via the website, or rent bikes through City Hotel .
BOAT
There are boats from Munke Mose park in Odense to the zoo or Den Fynske Landsby.
BUS
The main transit point for city buses is behind the Odense BanegÄrd Center (OBC). Buy
your ticket from the driver (Dkr23) - exact change is recommended. Alternatively, a one-
day Odensebillet costs Dkr40; there is also the option of a one-day ticket covering all of
Funen (including Langeland services) for Dkr170.
The very handy, free CityBus (route 10) does a regular loop of Odense from 11am to
5pm weekdays, until 4pm Saturday. It runs every eight to 10 minutes - use it as a free
sightseeing tour!
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
Outside rush hour, driving in Odense is not difficult, but many central sights are on pedes-
trian streets. It's best to park your car and explore on foot.
In and around the city centre, there's time-restricted metered parking along the streets,
usually charged from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm Saturday. There are
large undercover car parks around Brandts (access from Vindegade) and by the train sta-
tion. Parking costs around Dkr12 per hour.
TAXI
Taxis are available at the train station, or by phoning Odense Taxa (
66 15 44 15) .
AROUND FUNEN
Woodlands and agricultural fields claim most of Funen, with surprises hiding in the rural
landscape - a Viking ship slumbering in an isolated mound, the fairy-tale castle Egeskov,
an enigmatic 2000-year-old passage grave.
