With its rustic farmhouse chairs, swathes of hessian and colourful ceramics, Ché Fè feels
freshly plucked out of a Tuscan hillside. Whatever the weather, expect warm, soulful Itali-
an dishes like housemade pasta with venison, or earthy Tuscan pork sausage with tomato
sauce and black chickpeas. The set menu (Dkr250) is good value, especially given that
most of the ingredients are organic. Viva Ché Fè!

Just around the corner from Nyhavn is new-school Union Kitchen, where inked staffers
look like punk-pop rockers, the colour scheme is grey-on-grey, and the clipboard menu is
packed with contemporary cafe grub like homemade granola and toasted sourdough with
cottage cheese, tomato, thyme and olive oil. Best of all is the 'Balls of the Day', a daily-
changing combo of succulent homemade meatballs served with interesting sides.

Communal tables and fresh Southeast Asian flavours are what you get at this popular base-
ment cantina, a quick walk from Kongens Nytorv and the Hotel d'Angleterre. Tuck into
staples like Thai fish cakes, tom yam goong soup, and no shortage of red, green and yellow
curries.

Bucking the casual-dining trend, Michelin-starred Clou luxuriates in its large, linen-clad
tables, upholstered armchairs, and bowtied waiters in armbands. That said, the menu is an
adventurous, modern affair, with both Nordic and global influences driving knockouts like
duck breast served with luscious berries and chestnuts braised in aniseed and maple syrup.
As for the wines: they're so impressive that the food is created around them.
