Painting the skirting board
While in this view, let's add a little bit of a non-standard or individual feel to our interi-
or by adding a color to our skirting or kickboards that will stand very much in contrast
with the pale yellow applied to our walls. We can do this by performing the following
steps:
1. Create a new Standard material in the material editor and then rename it
Skirting .
2. In the Diffuse rollout, click on the color swatch and set HSV values of 219 ,
215 , and 127 .
3. Add a new Reflection layer from the Create Layer flyout, which automatic-
ally adds a TexFresnel map for us.
4. Set the Hilight and Reflect Glossiness values for the reflections to 0.93 .
5. Using the Select tool, click on the skirting geometry. Then, right-click on the
Skirting material entry in the editor and use the Apply Material to Selection
command.
Note
Using the Standard material here means that we can easily add a bump
map to simulate brush strokes at a later date, should we decide that the
material really could do with it.
