Database Reference
In-Depth Information
You open a database in FileMaker Go much like you do in FileMaker Pro: find your server,
select the file, open it and then enter your account name and password. But since your mo-
bile device's screen is much smaller and has a different aspect ratio, the process looks a little
different ( Figure 20-3 ).
Figure 20-3. The Home screen appears when you launch FileMaker Go. Here, you see iPad's
Home screen, which always opens to the Recent list. On the right is a list of recent FileMaker Serv-
ers and recently opened files. If you work with many different files, you may need to scroll the list to
see the file you need. Click Device to see a list of FileMaker files stored on the device. Click Hosts
to Add or Edit a host address. You'll have the same options on an iPhone or iPod Touch, but the
arrangement is different because their screens are so much smaller than the iPad's screen.
The first time you launch FileMaker Go, your recent files list will be blank; click Hosts to let
FileMaker Go know where your databases are stored ( Figure 20-4 ). In place of FileMaker
Pro's Open Recent command, FileMaker Go has a Recent Files list, and it's the quickest way
to open databases.
