The Yoga Barn runs a big programme of yoga classes (Rp110,000) in various disciplines
along with pilates, capoeira, dance and meditation. It also offers yoga retreats and yoga

ellers need to be aware of some ongoing scams . PT Central Kuta is a recommended ex-
change counter in the Circle K supermarket opposite Museum Puri Lukisan.

Hospitals, clinics and dentists Ubud Clinic at Jl Raya Campuhan 36 ( 0361 974911,
ubudclinic.baliklik.com ) is open 24hr, staffed by English-speakers and will respond to
emergency call-outs; it also has a dental service. Alternatively, try Toya Medika Clinic on
Jl Raya Pengosekan ( 0361 978078, toyamedika.com ) . For anything serious, the nearest
hospitals are in Denpasar.
House rental Check the noticeboards at Bali Buda café, Jl Jembawan; Bintang Supermarket,
Jl Raya Sanggingan; and Kafe , Jl Hanoman.
Internet access Most hotels, restaurants and bars offer free wi-fi. The best internet café in
town is Highway on Jl Raya Ubud (open 24hr; Rp10,000/20min).
Libraries The Pondok Pekak Library and Learning Centre off Jl Dewi Sita (daily 9am-9pm)
has lots of books about Bali, English-language novels, a comfortable upstairs reading room
and a children's library. The Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) has the island's best lib-
rary of books about Bali, including famous esoteric works and language books.
Police The main police station is on the eastern edge of town, on Jl Andong. There's a more
central police booth at the Jl Raya Ubud/Jl Monkey Forest crossroads.
Post office The main office, at Jl Jembawan 1 (Mon-Sat 8am-5pm, Sun & holidays
9am-4pm), has poste restante and a parcel-packing service at the back. There are postal
agents throughout Ubud where you can buy stamps and send mail and parcels.
Travel agents Many Ubud travel agents sell Perama bus and boat tickets for the Gili Islands
and Lombok, as well as international and domestic airline tickets. Ary's Business and Travel
Service, Jl Raya Ubud ( 0361 973130, [e-mail] ) provides general travel
agency services, as does Perama . Friends of the National Parks Foundation (FNPF), Jl
Bisma 3 ( 0361 977978, fnpf.org ) is the place to go for information about the Bali
starling project in Nusa Penida and advice on arranging a visit to the island.
Volunteering The Ubud area hosts a number of charitable foundations that can use a helping
