Warung Nikmat Alley Jl Singsari (off Jl Kubu Anyar) 0361 764678; map . This simple
place popular with expats and locals is a world away from the tourist restaurants in Kuta.
Assemble a nasi campur from around thirty East-Java-style dishes - beans with chilli, curried
eggs, chicken curry, urap (steamed vegetables with spiced coconut), tempeh and much more.
Prices vary but Rp25,000 should satisfy appetites. Daily 8am-9am.

this airy Thai restaurant; a huge menu includes plenty of seafood including jumbo grilled
prawns marinated in Thai herbs and coconut milk (Rp150,000) as well as good old pad Thai

Mugshot Jl Padma Utara 0361 750335; map . Excellent flat white, long black, macchiato
and piccolo latte coffees from an Australian-managed café, plus pastries, patisserie and
Aussie-style pies (Rp40,000), as well as free use of computers and wi-fi. Daily 6am-6pm.
Warung Asia Jl Wekudara 0361 742 0202; map . A new location for a decade-old Thai res-
taurant, moved from across the road to this airy upstairs café. Pad Thai is the house special
(Rp46,500) alongside delicious palate-tingling curries and Vietnamese spring rolls. Daily
9am-11pm.
Warung Murah Jl Camplung Tanduk 0361 732082; map . Another appealingly simple
tourist warung that hits the mark for thrifty diners, especially for lunch. Select a nasi campur
medley from curries, tempeh, fritters and vegetable dishes (from Rp20,000), or choose from
the small menu featuring the usual Indo-Chinese suspects (from Rp25,000). Also serves or-
ganic wheatgrass shots and good juices. Daily 8am-10.45pm.
Warung Yogya Jl Padma Utara 79 0361 750835; map . New chairs have introduced a slice
of modern café cool to a simple warung. Fortunately the Indonesian food is the same: unpre-
tentious and cheap. Fill up on nasi campur (veg or non-veg; Rp20,000) or chicken curry with
rice in banana leaves (Rp28,000). Daily 9am-10pm.
Zanzibar Jl Pantai Arjuna 0361 733528; map . While this long-standing place is rather
coasting on its reputation - a large tourist-friendly menu includes wood-fired pizza (from
Rp50,000), pasta, steak and seafood such as grilled yellowfin tuna in a sesame crust
