Getting there and around
There are many airports in the north of Thailand with connections to Bangkok including
Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Sukhothai, Mae Hong Son, Pai, and Phitsanulok. Chiang Mai air-
port also receives international flights from South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, China and
many other countries.
For the train lovers out there you can take the railroad from Bangkok all the way up to Chi-
ang Mai via Phitsanulok. You can choose to take an overnight sleeper train and wake up to
beautiful views as you chug up the mountains to Chiang Mai, or you can travel during the
day and arrive in just 12 hours. As always there is an abundance of buses plying the road
between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, with some heading farther north to Chiang Rai and oth-
ers on to the Mae Hong Son area.
