Gradient Wipe .

For Gradient Layer select the Earth Roll layer.
Gradient Wipe is usually applied as a transitional device using a source layer's
luminance values to determine how the wipe progresses - but when used without
animation applied to the Transition Completion, it performs well as a Luma Keyer.
Transition Completion - Determines the luminance point where the Key begins
or ends. Unlike the Luma Key Effect, which uses 0-256 as its scale, Gradient
Wipe is percentage based, with 0% (black) as its starting point. You can swap
the Key source color from black to white with the Invert Gradient switch.
Transition Softness - Blends the transition point where the Key occurs. Larger
values cause increased transparency while smaller values make the Key harsher.
Use the settings below to see how these options work in unison to make the
oceans translucent.
11
Set the Transition Completion to 15% and the Transition Softness
to 25%.

Luminance Keying - Extract
The last method of Luma Keying is achieved using the Extract Effect. This filter
provides features of both the Luma Key and Gradient Wipe filters: the ability to
generate a key based upon the middle gray levels like the Luma Key and the
ability to softly blend your key's edges to make translucent mattes. It also
provides a histogram to help better isolate your luminance density peaks.
