Create an OS X Recovery Disk
You can use an external hard drive or USB flash drive to create an OS X Recovery disk that
can help you troubleshoot problems. As described in Chapter 17 , you can troubleshoot Mac
Pro by booting to the Recovery HD, which is a partition on the Mac Pro hard drive. This is a
useful tool, but it suffers from a glaring problem: If Mac Pro's entire hard drive fails, the Re-
covery HD also fails. To protect yourself from such a scenario, create an OS X Recovery
disk, which is an external hard drive or flash drive that contains the same tools as the Recov-
ery HD.
Create an OS X Recovery Disk
Connect a USB flash drive or external hard drive to Mac Pro.
Note: The drive you use must have a capacity of at least 1GB.
Download and then open the Recovery Disk Assistant, as described in the first tip of
this section.
