The Snap To Objects button (the horseshoe magnet) on the Standard bar has nothing to
do with shapes you move snapping to guides. By default, Windows | Snap to Guides is
enabled. Uncheck this option, or press

on the keypad to toggle guide snapping on and off.
Here's something of interest if you're a designer who
works in a manufacturing enterprise: a product that has not
been manufactured yet might have a CAD drawing available.
Many CAD and modeling applications can export files to EPS
vector-type formats, which Xara can indeed import. Here's how
to make quick work out of illustrating something that cannot be
photographed for advertising yet:

In a new document, click the Minimize/Restore button
at upper right of the UI so you have an unobstructed
view of both the Xara Xtreme document and your
Desktop.
Drag the mug.eps file into the document window. By

default, the CAD drawing is given its own layer; open
the Object gallery now.

Rulers have to be visible to create guides: press
CTRL

L
if
you have no rulers in the document. Drag a guide from
a ruler to create a Guides layer in the workspace. This is
