much time sometimes puts himself and others in danger. Also, as
a nerdy and socially awkward teen, Peter doesn't always know
how to act around his peers and tends to retreat from social inter-
actions, oftentimes playing the part of a self-pitying loner.
Vices: Peter doesn't indulge in many vices, even those some of his
teenage peers might be trying, such as alcohol or recreational
drugs. He might be said to be mildly addicted to the “rush” he gets
when hiding behind his Spider-Man mask and swinging, leaping,
and crawling around the city to the amazement of those around
him.
Character Arc/Change: When we first meet Peter he is a typical
high school science nerd; intelligent, awkward, and bullied. When
he gets his spider-powers, he initially revels in them and becomes
a self-absorbed celebrity—essentially, a selfish jerk. And finally,
after the death of his Uncle Ben, for which he blames himself,
Peter grows into a more mature and responsible person, and ulti-
mately into a hero.
