In-Depth Information
Installing Wire Vice
4. Cut one length of irrigation tubing 60 feet long and fasten it to the bottom wire
between post #1 and post #9 with the hose clamps or curly ties, placing the clamps
approximately 36 to 60 in. apart. Fit the tubing to the underground PVC riser at
end post #1. Then put a hose crimp (or end plug) on the other end of the tubing, at
post #9.
5. Repeat hose cutting and clamping of the tubing as above for each row.
6. Measure 2 ft. from end post #1 and place your first dripper. Then continue at 5 ft.
intervals (according to your vine spacing) so that each vine will have one ½ gallon-
per-hour (gph) dripper positioned directly over it.
Installing Grape Stakes and Mid-Posts
1. Measure 2 ft. from end post #1 and place your first grape stake (at the same spot as
the first dripper). With a hammer, drive it into the ground about 6 to 12 inches, and
using the metal clips, secure the stake to the drip line wire and fruiting wire (use a
screwdriver to bend the clips around the wires).
2. Measure 5 ft. from the first stake to the second stake position and repeat step 1. Do
the same for each row, one at a time, to ensure that the stakes are lined up row to
row.
