3. Position a wire guide post every third grape stake. Use a sledgehammer or a metal
post driver to pound each post about 12 in. into the ground. Use a level to ensure
that the post is upright.
4. Attach the wires to each grape stake and mid-post. Use a screwdriver to fasten
clips to the grape stakes to hold the wires.

1. Dig a hole at the base of each grape stake 8 to 10 in. deep and place the plant in the
ground so that the graft union is about 3 to 4 in. above the surface of the ground.
