The Amalfi Coast:
Just around the bend from Naples stretches the remarkably beautiful forty-three stretch of
coastline known as the Amalfi Coast. Its extraordinary beauty and iconic, cliff-side mediev-
al Mediterranean fishing villages helped get this Italian coastline recognized as a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. It will take only one trip to the Amalfi Coast to realize why it was be-
stowed with that honor. From the sparkling blue sea to the steep slopes of lemon trees, to the
multi-colored terraced houses, it's definitely the perfect place for a laid back and relaxing
travel experience.
When to Visit:
If oppressive, hot weather and crowded towns and beaches are not what you're looking for,
it's best to avoid the Amalfi Coast during the summer months. The best times to visit would
be in the spring and autumn, more specifically, May through June and September through
October. Winter stays relatively moderate with little rain and also hotels have the lowest
rates during the winter offseason. Keep in mind, however, that some places may be closed
during the winter so it's a good idea to call ahead to double check if a hotel room or restaur-
ant you want to go to is indeed open.

Since there are several lovely towns to visit along the Amalfi Coast, it's a good idea to first
figure out first where you want to stay and what you want to see. Make yourself a travel
