Mount Vesuvius:
It's an active volcano, but when it's not in danger of erupting, you
can hike up Mount Vesuvius and take in the remarkable view from
its summit. It's typically a 30 minute hike to the top, and it's no
easy feat, so if you aren't an experienced hiker, trying to get to the
top of this steep volcano may not be a good idea.
More Helpful Travel Tips:
 There's very little shade at the site, so if you're visiting during
a hot summer month, don't forget the sunscreen, hats, and plenty
of water.
 The Pompeii site is extremely vast in size, but the average time
spent there it around 2-3 hours.
 There is only one small café and restroom facilities in the
middle of the site, so plan accordingly for your food. Bringing
snacks is always a smart idea.
 Be sure to ask for a map upon purchasing your entrance ticket.
It will come in handy once you enter the site.
