Vatican City
For those looking to be as close to holy as a Roman Catholic can get, a trip to the Vatican
will surely be it. But Vatican City isn't just for the religious. Those who appreciate typical
impressive Roman architecture and the beauty of their surroundings will also enjoy this sep-
arate state of Italy that's completely surrounded by the city of Rome. It's where the Pope's
residence and home base it. Roman Catholics, people of different religions, and those even
with little to no faith still flock to this holy city for their own personal reasons. No matter the
reason, the Vatican definitely holds its own mystique and is also the smallest state in Italy.
What to See:
Vatican Museums:
Taking a tour through the Vatican Museums is how youget to see the Sistine Chapel, famous
for the awesome frescoes painted by Michelangelo. Before reaching the Sistine Chapel,
you'll have to walk through many halls and buildings housing amazing art and collectibles.
The museum is fairly large and takes about an hour to get though until you come to the
Sistine Chapel. Unfortunately, there is no way to purchase a ticket to only see the Sistine
Chapel. Entry to the Sistine Chapel is included in the museum ticket price.
Sistine Chapel-
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most visited places in Italy, and
rightfully so. Travelers from all over the world flock here to see the
famous ceiling frescoes painted by Michelangelo. He was commis-
sioned, against his will, by Pope Julius II to paint the frescoes. The

also the Creation of Adam where you'll see the famous painting of
the figure of God touching Adam's fingertip. There are also some
other immensely impressive painted panels to view as well painted
by the likes of Botticelli, Rosseli, and Perugino. The overall exper-
ience of viewing such works of art on such a grand scale is nothing
short of awe-inspiring and should definitely be a must see when in
Rome and the Vatican.
