In-Depth Information
Figure 9-9. The game shown as a flowchart containing all the levels, boss fights, and cut scenes.
Turns out we have quite a few cut scenes, but then, this is a story-driven game we are
creating.
We won't draw storyboards for all the scenes here, but instead show you what the script
might look like for a few of these, with the dialog planned out.
To see how we progress to the next cut scene, we'll have a quick description of the game play
that follows each one. This will give you some context so you can see how to lead in and out of a
cut scene, which is an important aspect of cut scene design.
Cut Scene: Attack!
Flynn has just come from the masts atop the trade ship to receive praise for his first efforts up
there. He did well... for a landlubber. The crew is teasing him good-naturedly, when a cry rings
down from above; Pirates Ahoy! The crew rushes to the side of the ship to take in the ominous
sight of the huge pirate ship. “Alright, men. Arm the guns. We've dealt with scum like this before,”
the captain shouts.
