SAP HANA extends the capabilities of Web Intelligence by delivering faster query per-
formance, which greatly decreases the time needed to populate a report with data. With
faster reports, the need to pre-run reports is alleviated. Reports can also be created with
more user prompts (and greater drilldown capacity) without worrying about the perform-
ance degradation common to reports that have a large number of prompts without the sup-
port of SAP HANA.
SAP BusinessObjects Explorer
Explorer is a powerful tool for users who perform unstructured analysis of data. The tool
uses information spaces that are built from existing views through a simple web-based in-
terface. No defined queries are needed, since Explorer makes a best-guess effort to display
the data in each information space in a usable format. Explorer, by default, provides tables
that can be filtered and graphics that can be customized for easy consumption.
Although Explorer is not a full-featured reporting tool, the simplicity of the tool makes it
great for senior managers, power users, and executives. Explorer can be used on a BWA
system, but SAP HANA is the ideal platform. When used on HANA, Explorer uses the
Database Structured Query Language (DBSQL) for access to data in BW on HANA.
