SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence (WEBI)
SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence is in common use as a tool for ad hoc analysis.
With Web Intelligence, business users can add filters, charts, tables, and custom variables
to develop their own reports in the BI self-service model. Web Intelligence can be accessed
through a locally installed rich client, through the BI Launchpad using a Java-based client,
or through an HTML web client by opening an existing report.
The ad hoc nature of Web Intelligence allows users to build reports that are focused on
exactly the business areas they need. Other users can then choose to either use the report
as originally designed, or modify the report to drill down to exactly the data they need for
their particular business areas. These modifications can then be saved as the default view
for that report, or users can export their reports to Excel, CSV files, or even images. A
sample WEBI report is shown in Figure 3.7.
