BusinessObjects integration, mobilization, and connection
In order to be successful in your company's migration to SAP BW 7.4 on HANA, it is im-
portant to plan for integration with the BI 4.1 reporting platform and the SAP BusinessOb-
jects tool set.
3.4.1
BusinessObjects integration
Figure 3.4 shows the SAP BusinessObjects toolset, as well as the target users, target deve-
lopers, and capabilities of each of the tools.
Figure 3.4: BOBJ tools and preferred capabilities
When implementing a BI self-service solution for your company, you should remember that
few companies roll out the complete tool set to their users all at once. Instead, most com-
panies implement a solution gradually by rolling out two or three tools to their users based
on which tool is most appropriate to meet their needs. You should also realize that providing
access to the tools is only part of the implementation. Training for the support team and end
users is at least as important as deploying the tools and allowing users to access them.
When deciding which tools to implement first, consider how your company is currently
meeting their reporting needs. Then, decide which BOBJ tool is the closest fit for the current
way of doing things, while fully meeting the growing needs of the business. See Figure 3.5
for help deciding which tools best meet the needs of your business.
