Adjust EU_INIT
The job EU_INIT completely rebuilds indexes in the SAP BW system and takes a lot of
time to run. After an upgrade, the job EU_INIT will be scheduled to run automatically. To
prevent this job from running on its own, you need to apply the corrections from SAP Note
1984730 to change the parameters for EU_INIT so that it only runs on customer objects as
needed.
6.2.6
HANA server functions
There are several HANA server functions which need to be activated to integrate the func-
tionality between SAP BW 7.4 and HANA. The HANA database has procedures which
can run directly on the database in order to reduce the volume of data that must be passed
between the database and application servers. The problem with this approach is that some
database procedures could affect the stability of the database. To prevent this, SAP HANA
has a script server that is separated from the main database server with its own memory
management processes. By default, this script server is not started when a HANA system
is started, so you will need to start the script server manually. To do so, go to the C ON -
FIGURATION tab of the administration console in HANA Studio. From there, expand the
DAEMON . INI configuration file and the SCRIPT SERVER section. Change the instances para-
meter from 0 to 1 in this section in order to start the script server. You will need to restart
any applications that use the database after making this change.
Check the notes!
SAP Note 1650957 contains more information about starting the
script server in the HANA database, including SQL commands
which can be used from the SQL console in HANA Studio, or from
the hdbsql command line utility.
You should also activate the statistics server in HANA. The instructions for activating this
feature are found in the Sample DMO task list in Section 6.3.13 , step 0, so see the task list
(or SAP Note 1650957) for more information.
