The Apply Canvas filter ( Filters > Artistic > Apply Canvas ) applies a canvas
structure to your image and makes it appear as if it had been printed on
canvas.
You can choose the direction from which the light should fall on the
canvas structure. Actually, you can decide how the shadow should be cast
on the canvas. The Depth slider determines the brightness of the highlights
on the canvas structure. The higher the value, the stronger and brighter the
structure appears in the foreground.
It remains to be said that the filter is dependent on the resolution of the
image. The results of the filter are best at a low resolution of 72 dpi or 96 dpi
(such as for the Internet). With higher resolutions, the pattern is too finely
woven and you get the tiles of the pattern in your image.
