mineral acid, alkali, salts, oils, fats, surfactants, metals and
oxidants - These affect pH and salinity and contribute to
BOD and toxicity [7].
Cooper [21] identified several acidic azo dyes that have higher persis-
tence in activated sludge process, including Acid Yellow 17, Acid Yellow 23,
Acid Yellow 49, Acid Yellow 151, Acid Orange 10, Direct Yellow 4, Acid
Red 14, Acid Red 18, Acid Red 337, and Acid Black 1. It has been suggested
