In-Depth Information
As a very simple model for file sharing, Karen, Ella, and Steve
could maintain their own separate files for their group paper, and
each could email copies periodically to the others. This approach
utilizes three separate and independent file servers, one for each sys
tem, as illustrated in Figure 9.1. Using this model, Karen begins
their group paper and saves it on her computer system as
H:\compsci105\groupwork\finalpaper.doc
When Steve works on his portion of this paper, the full name for his
file on his Linux system is
/home/steve/compsci/papers/finalpaper.sxw
and Ella's file for her portion of this work on her Macintosh OS X
calls this file
/home/ella/cs105/homework/finalpaper.wrf
