Stream video from an iOS app to an Apple TV
Just as more websites are providing an AirPlay button for their videos when accessed from an
iOS device, so too are more iOS apps providing an AirPlay button for their videos. Historically, video
apps such as Hulu Plus from the TV networks and cable channels have avoided making it easy to
stream their videos to an Apple TV, perhaps because they worry that users of the app may like the ex-
perience so much that they eschew traditional television altogether.
In recent years, however, these networks and services have become more confident about the fu-
ture of television and on-demand viewing, so that little AirPlay button is slowly creeping into more
and more video apps. The Netflix and PBS apps in the U.S. support AirPlay, for example. In the U.K.,
Sky and my personal favorite, NFL GamePass, support AirPlay in their apps (see Figure 3-15).
