Fly home to Anchorage. I'm still learning how to walk on dry land.
I have no excuse for my complete and total seduction by the S.S. Universe Explorer .
The worst I can say is they have bad coffee, and Bonnie says they're going to fix that, and
with shade grown coffee, no less. I don't want to sound like a cheerleader but I wouldn't
be telling the truth if I didn't—these are some of the most affable, competent and best-or-
ganized people I've ever met. The very ship itself has a welcoming, comfortable atmo-
sphere.
This isn't a cruise per se, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. This is a two-
week intensive course in Alaskan history, biology, zoology, botany and culture, that floats.
Brad says, “This is a cruise for someone with a thirst for knowledge.” Well, yes. With
great scenery, lots of wildlife, singing, dancing and aft deck barbecues thrown in. For
none of which you have to lay a bet or get into anything dressier than jeans.
Unless they make you have dinner with the captain.
