has lost none of its magnificence, and the service is first class, but exorbitant prices mean
it has struggled to win back its place among today's impoverished intelligentsia.

the cakes, if they are fresh, are delicious. Stands right across the road from the Great Syn-
agogue, so very handy for sightseeing.

Congenial cellar café underneath the
Élesztő
beer bar in a former glass factory near the
Corvin negyed. The teddy bears, sewing machines and bric-a-brac covering the brick walls
and every surface give the place a very homely feel, and you can relax in armchairs. There's
a huge range of teas, as well as coffee and hot chocolate, all fairly sourced, and home-made
biscuits and savoury snacks.
