been continuing the
Auguszt
patisserie tradition since 1870, with mainly the women of the
family at the helm. They certainly produce some of Budapest's finest cakes, and you can en-
joy them upstairs or on the terrace out the back. The branch at V, Kossuth Lajos utca 14-16
in the Belváros is open Monday too.

Overlooking the riverside
park between the Lánchíd and restored Várkert Bazár, this sweet little café feels like a very
personal creation. The art on the walls is by the daughter of Ági néni, who presides over
the proceedings. The artistic links continue in the menu and at the tables which each bear an
artist's name rather than a number. They also serve full meals throughout the day.

this diminutive Baroque coffee house can be so packed that it's almost impossible to get a
seat in summer. Still, it's definitely worth seeking out for its coffee and cakes, the pick of
which is its mouth-watering
