Punahoa Beach Apartments Book this place! I can't put it any
more simply than that. The location—off noisy, traffic-ridden Kihei Road, on a
quiet side street with ocean frontage—is fabulous. A grassy lawn rolls about 50
feet down to the beach, where there's great snorkeling just offshore and a popu-
lar surfing spot next door; shopping and restaurants are all within walking dis-
tance. All of the beautifully decorated units in this small, four-story building
have fully equipped kitchens and lanais with great ocean views. Rooms go
quickly in winter, so reserve early.

Very Expensive
The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Attention deal hunters: For the price
of a wonderful hotel in the fabulous resort destination, you can get a suite! These
are terrific for families, as the suites contain a king bed or two double beds, along
with a queen-sized pullout sofa in the living room, with plenty of room for a
crib. Each unit in this all-suite luxury hotel has a kitchenette (ask for compli-
mentary hot chocolate)—maybe not enough to cook a Thanksgiving dinner, but
you can keep hungry kids happy—plus a living room with entertainment cen-
ter (with in-room video games) and comfy sofa bed, a marble wet bar, an over-
size marble bathroom with separate shower big enough for a party, a tub that can
hold three preschoolers, a spacious bedroom, and a large lanai that overlooks the
pools (one for kids only), lawns, and white-sand beach. You'll find coin-operated
washers and dryers on every floor. All restaurants on-site welcome kids with a
keiki menu and are equipped with highchairs and booster seats.
If you have the money to burn, the villas are definitely out of a fantasy. The
rich and famous stay in these 2,000-square-foot, two- and three-bedroom beach
bungalows, each with its own plunge pool and gourmet kitchen.
