UNIT SUMMARY
This unit has given you the opportunity of developing your knowledge and skills in researching and
investigating long-haul travel destinations. You have practised locating a range of long-haul destinations and
investigated the factors that affect a customer's choice of destination, such as types of holidays available,
travel factors and different types of destinations. You h ave also explored the features and facilities which
make long-haul destinations appealing to different customer types, such as accessibility, destination facilities
and culture. Finally, the unit has given you the opportunity o f planning a long-haul tour, taking into account
visitor needs, attractions in destinations, transport options a nd itinerary content. Throughout the unit you
have been shown many destination examples and have be e n given the chance of developing your travel
geography skills and knowledge by completing a series of act iv ities. The case study on Jamaica serves to
highlight the appeal of one particular Caribbean destination.
