Task 1
You are to produ ce an illustrated Travel and Tourism Careers Booklet that:
a.
Describes career op p ortunities within a minimum of three different industries in the travel and tourism
sector (P1). These could be chosen from travel agents, tour operators, tourist attractions, airlines, cruising,
etc. This part of your booklet is about careers within each of the industries, not just one job role, giving
you the chance to show how careers develop over time. There should be clear identifi cation of career
opportunities through promotio n and progression routes.
b.
Describes the roles and responsibilit i es, entry requirements and progression routes for two jobs in travel
and tourism that interest you (P2). This s hould be a comprehensive description, giving the job title, role,
main duties and responsibilities, entry r e quirements and progression opportunities. You should produce
a job description and person specifi cation for each of your chosen jobs. The two jobs could be from the
same or different component industries. Specifi c factors affecting the two jobs, such as seasonality, must
be clearly indicated.
c.
Compares two further jobs in the travel and tourism sector that interest you (M1). Your comparison must
include duties and responsibilities, entry requirements, and opportunities for promotion and progression.
You must state clearly how and why the two jobs are different and how they are similar.
This task is designed to provide evidence for P1, P2 and M1 .
Task 2
This task focuses on the stages of the recruitment and selection process in travel and tourism.
a.
Research and make a presentation that describes the stages of the r ecruitment and selection process,
identifying good practices (P3). This must be from the perspective of bo t h the prospective employer and
the person applying for the job. All stages must be fully described an d good practices identifi ed, for
example how to complete an application form, how to lay out a CV, etc.
b.
Produce a personal skills audit in preparation for employment (P4). This s h o u ld be a detailed written
document that includes an accurate review of your personal qualities, skills, e x perience, achievements
and qualifi cations, together with supporting evidence to show how they have b e en acquired or utilised.
c.
Participate fully in the recruitment and selection process (P5). Firstly, you must produce an up-to-date
CV and a fully-completed application form, supported by a correctly-formatted letter of application, for
a specifi c job in the travel and tourism sector that is of interest to you. These must be o f a standard that
would project a positive image in terms of content, language, design and accuracy.
d.
Your second task to achieve P5 is to positively take part in a real or simulated individual or group interview.
You must demonstrate advance preparation for the interview, knowledge of the compa n y concerned,
personal presentation and positive body language. You should respond to and ask questions during the
interview.
e.
While undertaking Task 2c and 2d, you must demonstrate suitability for employment thro ug h job
application and interview skills during different stages of the recruitment and selection proces s (M2).
