Attending interviews
During any interviews you must try to impress the
interviewer(s) as much as possible by projecting a
positive image and attitude at all times. Introduce
yourself on entering the interview room and, if given
the opportunity, shake hands with the interviewer(s).
Although it can be a stressful time, try to smile, relax
and stay calm. Many of the above points apply just as
well when you are asked to take part in a telephone
interview to screen candidates. You may be asked to
complete a test as part of the interview, e.g. a numeracy
or IT test. In certain circumstances, you may be asked
to complete a psychometric test, which tries to assess
an individual's character from a series of inter-related
questions.
I am available for interview at any time that is
convenient to you and look forward to hearing back.
Your sincerely
Amy Sparks

demands of the job on offer. For you as the candidate
going for an interview, it is your chance to sell yourself to
the employer while at the same time assessing whether
you would be happy to work in the organisation. An
interview may be on a one-to-one basis or a panel
interview. You may also fi nd that you are contacted by
telephone ahead of the formal interview and asked
questions about your skills and experience. Some
employers use this as a way of 'screening' unsuitable
candidates, thereby reducing the number of interviews
In most cases, interviews take place between an
interviewer and just one interviewee. However, for
certain jobs that involve a lot of teamwork, candidates
may be asked to complete group tasks so that they
can be assessed on their team working, leadership and
negotiation skills. This is common for airline jobs and
overseas jobs with tour operators.
