The UK as a Destination
Introduction
This assignment is made up of a number of tasks which, wh e n successfully completed, are designed to give
you suffi cient evidence to meet the Pass (P), Merit (M) and D i stinction (D) grading criteria for the unit. If you
have carried out the activities and read the case studies throughout this unit, you will already have done a
lot of work towards completing the tasks for this assignment.
Scenario
After completing your BTEC National course, you've decided to apply for a 12-month training programme
with one of the UK's Regional Tourist Boards and have been invited to attend a selection weekend at a hotel
in Birmingham. The aim of the weekend is for the Tourist Board staff to sele c t the best candidates to go
forward to the full training programme. You will be given three tasks to complete during the weekend. When
completing each task, you must demonstrate that you have used a range o f appropriate reference
materials and keep a written record of the sources consulted.
