According to the travel trade, Japanese prefer small, light, fresh meals (id e ally some fi sh), fresh vegetables
(salad, not boiled vegetables) and fresh fruits (preferred over sugary swee t s) . Consumers appreciate local
foods, in particular in season and in region. Organic food is becoming big wit h the Japanese.

Language and information provision
The French are reluctant to speak English through a lack of confi dence. If staff can welcome them with a few
basic French words, they will appreciate your efforts and will be happy to answer in English. Frenc h people
look for good deals - advise them on shops and restaurants where they can fi nd special promo t ions or
