The mile-long
Imus Loop Nature Trail
and the quarter-mile-loop
McKeller Cabin
Trail
are both near the Stehekin boat landing.
The easy
Lakeshore Trail
starts at the Golden West Visitor Center and heads south
near Lake Chelan's shore. Lake and mountain vistas framed by Ponderosa pines are vis-
ible throughout. You can walk as long as you want then turn around and backtrack, or
you can make this into a backpacking trip: between May 1 and October 15 the
Lady II
passenger boat can drop you off 17 miles south of Stehekin and you can hike the one to
two days north (camping permits aren't required on this stretch). Watch out for
rattlesnakes along the way.
Other treks include the 5-mile
Rainbow Loop Trail
, with great lake and valley views,
and the
Purple Creek Trail
toward 6884ft Purple Pass, 7.5 miles away.
Horseback-Riding
From Stehekin Valley Ranch Cascade Corrals leads three-hour horseback rides to Coon
Lake ($50 per person), as well as guided hikes into the mountains with gear carried on
