Local liquor laws mean you can't order an adult beverage with your dinner; however, al-
most every place in town is cheerfully BYOB, with the exception of the Black Bear
(where it's forbidden) and Blue Mountain Bistro (which has a bar). There aren't a ton of
restaurant choices in Fort Davis. Keep in mind that Marfa is only 22 miles away.

While El Paso has a Mex-
ican restaurant on practically every street corner, they're harder to find in central west
Texas, so grab some decent enchiladas and chile rellenos while you can at this local favor-
ite. Remember, this is a dry county, so pick up some cerveza at a grocery store if you'd
like to imbibe.

diner, part old-fashioned soda fountain - but no 1950s nostalgia here. The theme is pure
cowboy, with corrugated metal, big wooden chairs and lots of saddles providing the back-
drop. Dine on country-style breakfasts, diner-style lunches and full entrees at dinner. But
whatever you do, save room for a banana split (or at least a milkshake).

What could have been a perfunctory restaurant at the Indian Lodge within
Davis Mountains State Park is actually a more-than-decent dining option. We can't speak
for all the meals - the evening menu has limited options - but we were lucky enough to
enjoy a breakfast buffet (served most weekends) that was laden with hot, delicious treats.
More biscuits and gravy? Yes please!

pizza, sandwiches and salads, make this casual cafe an easy sell when you need to grab a
