wonder pictures of the Alamo are always tightly cropped. Pull back and you can see the
Crockett's sign hovering just behind the fort. (In Texas, they call that 'spittin' distance.')

The name sounds as though this place should be awash in floral prints and lace run-
ners, but this historic hotel right behind the Alamo is actually pretty stylish, and has been
bought by Hilton. The boutique-style rooms are clean, large and enjoy all the luxury
amenities, from Tazo teas and Aveda bath products to high-speed internet access.
