City View Inn & Suites Sunset Station
( 210-222-2220; www.cityviewinnsa.com ; 1306 E Commerce St; r $75-95; ) Just acriss I-37,
less than a mile from the Alamo, sits a skinny little three-story building full of clean, new
rooms. Amenities are few, but if you're just looking for a place to park your bags, this
place is great. It's also just two blocks from the Amtrak station, if that's how you're arriv-
ing.

( 210-223-2951; www.rodewayinnsa.com ; 900 N Main Ave; d $39-79; ) You could walk to the
Alamo and Riverwalk, which are just one mile away, but you don't even have to because
the downtown trolley comes right to your door. Rooms are as basic as can be, but it'll save
you some dollars, especially when you factor in free parking and continental breakfast.

both the Alamo and Riverwalk, but the trade-off is the freeway location. Still, it's a good
deal and the standard rooms are huge.

design guru and hotelier Liz Lambert could make a radish look cool. Luckily she's turned
her sights to fixing up a few lucky properties such as this one, judiciously adding eclectic
touches - a retro pink refrigerator, for example - to her simple, clean designs. Check online
for discounts for Texas residents or advance purchases.
