San Antonio has loads of places to stay that become booked solid - and much more ex-
pensive - during major National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) games, city
festivals and large conventions. Most motels and hotels raise their rates substantially dur-
ing summer, too.
Even with so many hotel options, really cheap places downtown are few and far
between. The downtown area does have a good selection of reasonably priced motels and
there are a multitude of choices out by the airport and along the interstates.
San Antonio also has its fair share of B&Bs and generally speaking they are good
value, ensconced in fine old homes in the more historic areas of the city, especially the
King William District.
