BICYCLE
Denver has lots of bike lanes on the city streets and an excellent network of trails to get
out of town. These include routes along the Platte River Parkway, the Cherry Creek Bike
Path and a network that heads all the way out to Golden (about a two-hour ride). You can
get all the information you need from a pair of excellent websites, BikeDenver
( www.bikedenver.org ) and City of Denver ( www.denvergov.org ) , which has downloadable bike maps
for the city.
B-Cycle ( 303-825-3325; www.denver.bcycle.com ; 1-day membership $8; 5am-11pm) The first citywide
bicycle-share program in the US was launched in April 2010. Directions are given at more
than 80 stations found throughout the city. Rentals under 30 minutes are free. Helmets are
not included and not required in Denver.
BUS
Regional Transportation District (RTD; 303-299-6000; www.rtd-denver.com ; 1500 Broadway) RTD
provides public transportation throughout the Denver and Boulder area (local/express/re-
gional fares $2.25/4/5). Free shuttle buses operate along the 16th St Mall. RTD also runs a
SkyRide service to the airport from downtown Denver hourly ($11, one hour). The web-
site has schedules, routes, fares and a trip planner.
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
Street parking can be a pain, but there is a slew of pay garages in downtown and LoDo.
Nearly all the major car-rental agencies have counters at DIA, though only a few have of-
