ators should have no trouble finding this city.
TRAIN
Amtrak ( 800-872-7245; www.amtrak.com ) Amtrak's California Zephyr runs daily between Ch-
icago and San Francisco, stopping in Denver. While its usual home, Union Station, is be-
ing renovated, Amtrak has set up a temporary station at 1800 21st St. It's slated to move
back to Union Station in spring 2014.
Union Station ( Amtrak 800-872-7245; www.denverunionstation.org ; cnr 17th & Wynkoop Sts; 31X, 40X,
80X, 86X, 120X RTD) The red neon atop this stoic 19th-century fortress glowers down and de-
mands you 'travel by train' - and you still can. But not until renovations are completed in
spring of 2014, when the new Union Station will provide a multi-modal one-stop shop for
service to Denver metro light-rail lines, commuter buses and Amtrak.
There are even plans to build a hotel on site, and you can definitely expect a number of
restaurants and shops opening up here.
