In-Depth Information
CD/DVD Labels
You can create stick-on labels for CDs and DVDs with Elements and print them on blank la-
bel sheets from any office supply store. To get started, go to Create→CD/DVD Label. As
with CD/DVD jackets , Elements gives you just one template, but you have various choices
in the Layouts pane (each layout creates a single label). When you're done creating your la-
bel, go to File→Export [type of project], save your work as a TIFF or JPEG file, and then
place it into the template that goes with your specific brand of labels. (Most CD or DVD la-
bels print two to a page.) The major brands, like Avery ( www.avery.com ) and Neato
( www.neato.com ) , have free templates you can download from their websites to help you po-
sition the labels properly on the page.
TIP
While labels make your discs look great, it's risky to put a stick-on label on any disc
you'll use in a computer because, if the label gets stuck in the disk drive, you may have to
replace the drive. Consider using a marker to label discs instead, or buying printable discs
if your printer can print on them.
Facebook Cover
If you have a Facebook account (and who doesn't?), you know what a hassle it can be to
change your profile photo or the large banner image at the top of your Facebook page (which
Facebook calls your “cover” photo).
You may have noticed that people do all sorts of creative things to make these two images re-
late to each other in clever and original ways, and Elements 13 makes it easy for you to do
that, too. Then, when you're satisfied with your artistic efforts, you can upload your work
right from Elements. Unfortunately, Facebook's rules mean that the uploading process is a bit
more complex than you'd probably like it to be, but Elements walks you through all the steps
and makes it pretty easy.
In many ways, creating a Facebook cover is like making a collage. Here's what you do:
1. In either the Editor or the Organizer, go to Create Facebook Cover .
You can start with images already open or selected in the Organizer, or wait till step 3
to add them. (If you select a photo stored in your Revel account, you need to wait
