while Elements downloads it to your computer.) If you start from the Organizer, you
get bounced over to the Editor to actually create your cover.
2. In the Facebook Cover window, choose a theme, and then click OK .
The themes are divided into categories according to how many photos they use (one
or multiple). There's a large preview on the right side of the window to help you pick
one. You may not care for some of the added doodads (like fancy text blocks) in some
of the themes, but don't worry about that stuff. Just focus on the number of photo-
graphs a theme uses, since you can customize it later. If you have open photos, turn on
the “Autofill with Selected Photos” checkbox to make Elements place your open pho-
tos for you (or at least as many of them as the template has room for). If you choose a
single-photo template, Elements uses the same photo for both the background banner
and the smaller profile image.
Once you click OK and Elements generates your cover, you may not like the result at
all, but that's OK because you can adjust everything in the next step. On the other
hand, if you're perfectly happy with how things look at this point, skip ahead to step
4.
3. Customize your cover .
You can adjust each image by double-clicking it to bring up the controls shown back
on Adjusting Photos and Frames . Use them to resize your photo, rotate it, or even
choose a different photo. If you click the Graphics button at the bottom right of your
screen, you see some alternative ways to gussy up your cover image.
TIP
In a single-photo template, the smaller profile image (the one that drops down be-
low the background image's bottom left) is just part of the main image. By mov-
ing the large image around and resizing it, you can adjust the part that appears in
the profile image, but you can't use a completely different image there.
If you click the Advanced Mode button, you can then access the Layers panel, which
makes it easier to delete frames or ornaments you don't like or to add your own text
and graphics. You can also add additional frames from the Graphics panel, just the
way you do for a collage ( Photo Collages ).
