You won't find
better value than these two small, comfortably furnished apartments alongside the best
beach on the island. Both have bright tiled floors, wooden walls and ceilings, and are
equipped with comfortable beds, a sofa and a kitchenette, which can really bring down the
costs around here.

Set behind
thick coral walls are a handful of large wooden bungalows and cheaper but spacious and
attractive wooden rooms. All come with indoor-outdoor bathrooms, hammocks and sea
views. There is also a large communal lounge area with a great sun deck up top. The Itali-
an owners make tremendous coffee and outstanding pastas (US$8) and three-course meals
(US$25). Nonguests can eat here if they call in advance to make a reservation.

With a lively bar-restaurant and half a dozen attractive thatched
duplexes, where hammocks are strung on mosaic and stone verandas scattered beneath the
coconut palms, this is a popular midrange choice. There is one cheaper room without air-
