This is a
great find just east of the main plaza. It's quiet, sanitary and has colorful rooms spruced
up by tiny ceramics and textiles here and there. There's a friendly family vibe to the whole
place. Prices listed here are for foreigners; Peruvians pay a bit more, perhaps to make up
for the lopsided Machu Picchu prices!

Overlooking the leafy Paseo de las Musas, the newish Colibrí is a longish walk from the
center but is top value. Brightly lit and brightly painted, it's a modern choice, with a
friendly front desk, a burger joint in the bottom and a 2nd floor coffee/cocktail bar with
patio views of the park. Funky bathrooms, too.

Blink and you'll
miss the tiny entrance to this place. Things don't get any bigger inside, but if you're will-
ing to forgo space, there's clean and tidy rooms with writing desks, hot water and cable
TV - a reasonably good deal at this price range. There are only matrimonial rooms,
though (no doubles), so it's suitable for couples, not so much for buds.

An excel-
lent choice, this hotel is thoroughly maintained with perfect little rooms. Some of the
corner rooms have giant curving floor-to-ceiling windows for great street views and
plenty of light. The staff is very helpful.

Elementary but trim and tidy, this shoestringer steps up successfully to its 'Welcome
Backpackers' motto. There's a nice city view from the top floor, electric hot showers and
some locally made laurel wood furniture to give it some flare.
