HOSTEL
Surf Hostal Meri $
( 46-2264; hostel.meri@gmail.com; La Rivera 720; dm S20, s/d without bathroom
S30/50, tr S75; ) Full of tattered antique furniture, this rustic beddown across the
street from the beach is vaguely hippie-esque with a good communal hostel vibe. The Fin-
nish- Peruvian owners are big surfers (it doubles as a school) and there are ample public
hang spaces, including a couple of great hammocks and sun-drenched sea-view decks.
Hotel Bracamonte $$
( 46-1162; www.hotelbracamonte.com.pe ; Los Olivos 160; s/d/tr incl breakfast from
S124/150/197; ) Popular, friendly, welcoming and secure behind high walls and a
locked gate, the Bracamonte is one of the oldest of Huanchaco's nicer hotels and it re-
mains one of the top choices. Nice gardens, a games room, barbecue, restaurant, bar and
toddlers' playground make it great for families; the executive rooms are probably the best
maintained in Huanchaco.
Overall, it's the most equipped and near resortlike choice.
HOTEL

( 46-1272; www.huanchacohostal.com ; Plaza de Armas; s/d/tr S75/120/145; )
On the town's small Plaza de Armas, this cozy little place has spartan rooms and a hand-
some backyard concealing a secluded pool and garden. There are plenty of arty touches to
make it feel homey.
HOTEL
McCallum Lodging House $
( 46-2350; mccallum-lodging-house@hotmail.com; Los Ficos 305; dm/s/d/tr S15/25/
45/60; ) This family-run guesthouse levels the playing field of its crude construction
with friendliness and camaraderie - travelers gather around the nice communal kitchen
and hammock-strewn concrete garden and discuss the day's waves. Rooms are basic but
clean with 24-hour hot water and a matriarch (Patricia), who will fawn over you like her
own.
GUESTHOUSE
My Friend Hospedaje $
( 46-1080; www.myfriendsurfhostal.com ; Los Pinos 158; dm/d/tr S10/20/30; ) This
hole-in-the-wall attracts droves of backpackers and surfers with only a few nuevo soles
