massive, modern grocery stores, though easily the fanciest is the Whole Foods-equivalent
Food Lover's Market at Levy Junction replete with a sushi bar and gourmet freshly pre-
pared foods. It can be a bit weird going to a shopping centre for a candlelit dinner, but
what the setting lacks in ambience is usually made up for in the quality of the cuisine.
Other options are scattered around the suburbs, especially around Embassy Triangle and
Rhodes Park.

(Chachacha Rd) serve cheap local food, but the scavenging dogs roaming the piles of rub-
bish are not a sight for the squeamish. Sausages and steaks are grilled before your eyes
and served with a generous portion of veg and nshima (maize porridge) for around
ZMW10. Cleaner food stalls are scattered elsewhere around the city.

(Great East Road, Arcades Shopping Centre; mains ZMW55-110; ) This is one of the
best places to eat in Lusaka; mind you, it can take a while to get used to fine dining
Zambian-style - in a shopping centre with a nice view of the parking lot. But don't let that
bother you as the food is excellent. It has huge eating areas, inside and outside under an
industrial-style roof, and the international menu does everything from steaks to Thai
chicken, salads and even nasi goreng.
There are also lots of seafood dishes but you should try the chicken Espetada, a deli-
cious Portuguese-inspired chicken dish - the presentation will have you playing hangman
in minutes.
