popular with overlanding groups. The security is good, while the swimming pool and bar
(which sells snacks) are nice touches. Chalets are cool and comfortable and modelled on
the traditional thatch hut. Firewood is for sale and there is an abutting walkable safari area
with animals that don't want to eat you. It's about 12km south of the city centre.
Minibuses from the City Bus Station or South End Roundabout go past the gate.

fast ZMW500/550; ) This upmarket and peaceful guesthouse is one of the best in Lu-
saka, with only a handful of snug ensuite rooms. It used to be a farm and today the size-
able grounds are devoted to the owners' love of gardening, and really are magnificent
(and ever-growing); it's a place where you can wander well away from other guests. Three
rooms in a separate cottage have air conditioning and there's a lounge with TV and com-
fortable couches. Located around 4½km southwest of the Kafue Roundabout on Cairo Rd.

) This lodge, set in beautifully landscaped grounds, has paintings and sculptures adorn-
ing the walls and passageways. It has 10 sumptuous rooms: eight doubles and two family
rooms, which come with bath and shower. If you want to stay here book ahead as it caters
for lots of conferences. Airport transfer is ZMW100 for the bus, one way, making it a
great deal for groups.

The better places tend to congregate either inside or fairly close to the three main shop-
ping centres: Arcades (Great East Road) , Levy Junction Offline map Google map (cnr
Church & Kabalenga Rds) or Manda Hill Offline map Google map (Great East Road) ,
where you'll find a handful of quality independent restaurants and a wide range of mostly
South African fast-food and chains. Manda Hill probably has the best selection including
a Nando's, Steer's, Mugg & Bean, Debonair's Pizza, Curry in a Hurry and My Asia, the
