NOVA GORICA
05 / POP 13,178 / ELEV 92M
Nova Gorica is a university city straddling the Italian border, with tree-lined boulevards
and a couple of lovely parks and gardens. Slovenian, Venetian and Austrian influences can
be felt everywhere in the hinterland. It also straddles two important wine-growing areas:
Goriška Brda to the northwest and the wide Vipava Valley to the southeast, and is a decent
springboard for the Soča Valley, and the beautiful Karst region leading to the coast.
