welcoming little place between the museum and Trg Svobode (enter via the driveway
from Volaričeva ulica) has five rooms and apartments, some with terraces.

d/tr from €55/60; ) The oldest camp ground in the valley, this 2-hectare site with 70
pitches is about 500m northeast of Kobarid on the left bank of the Soča River and just be-
fore the turn to Drežniške Ravne, a lovely village with traditional farmhouses. In full view
is the Napoleon Bridge.

Hiša Franko €€

6-11pm Tue-Sun) Foodies will love this superb gourmet restaurant in the Hiša Franko
guesthouse in Staro Selo, just west of town. Impeccable tasting menus, which change ac-
cording to the season, are strong on locally sourced ingredients and cost €50/75 for five/
eight courses. It closes on Tuesday in winter.
Topli Val €€€
(Trg Svobode 1; starters €8-10, mains €9.50-25; noon-10pm) Seafood is the speciality
here, and it's excellent - from the carpaccio of sea bass to the Soča trout and signature
lobster with pasta. Expect to pay about €30 to €60 per person with a decent bottle of wine.
There's a lovely front terrace and back garden open in warmer months.
